The week so far
It's been a week since I've blogged. Maybe it's because I'm having sooo much fun... or maybe it's just because i couldn't be stuffed blogging for the past few days. Either way, I'm here now and plan to write about some of the things that have happened this week.
FIFA World Cup - Germany 2006
The past week has seen the quarter-finals and semi-finals being played for the soccer world cup. There were a lot of upsets and some notable wins.

Game 57 (30 June 2006)

Semi-finals

Germany versus Italy
0:2 a.e.t (0:0)
Winner: Italy
Game 62 (5 July 2006)
Portugal versus France
0:1 (0:1)
Winner: France
So at the end of the day, we are going to be seeing a France versus Italy showdown. I expected Brazil to make it through to the final. After they got knocked out in the quarter-finals, I expected Germany to make it. They were knocked out in the semi-finals and now with just the finals remaining, I'm predicting France to win. The way that my predictions are going, there is a strong reason to believe that I am going to predict the wrong team to win again.
So the soccer is coming to a near close. It's been almost a month of entertainment now and I was getting used to the routine of waking up in the middle of the night and watching the games. It's been a good experience and it was great to see how far Australia went in the tournament too.
David Jones
All I can say is that if you have a voucher to the value of $50 at David Jones, you're going to have a very difficult time trying to find something that you can purchase without using your own money as well. I went there on Thursday and was hoping to pick something up with my voucher. To my surprise, there were a lot of items on sale but even after being reduced, they were too expensive for my liking. I had a look at the display cases and the leather wallets that were presented within them. I then thought maybe I'd get a wallet with my voucher because I "assumed" it'd cost less than the clothes I was looking through. After asking the sales assistant, I realised that I not only found something that was more than $50 but it was double the price of the jumpers I was looking at. The wallets cost around $300. I finally ended up purchasing a beanie. That's right... a beanie. It cost me $12 (HAHAHA) but it was the only thing I liked that wasn't in excess of $120 lol. I think it was a good buy hehe.
Nintendo DS
Whilst spending some time with Iksy over the holidays, she let me play a few games on her Nintendo DS lite. One of her games is called Project Rub and it's a love story kinda game. I really enjoyed playing the mini game called "Signs". It's so much fun and I'm considering getting a DS of my own but I want to wait for the PS3 to come out before I make a decision. I need some fun time too hehe.

Well yesterday was the day that all our university results would be published online. I didn't stay up late that night to order a transcript and so continued my tradition of waking up at 7:00am to check my results. Anyways, when I checked them in the morning, to my surprise there was a subject missing a grade (i.e. I only had 3 out of the 4 subjects I had completed with marks against them). The situation was resolved by ordering an academic transcript and waiting about 2 hours for it to arrive in my email inbox. Fortunately it had the results of all four subjects on that page and so further action didn't need to be taken.
Yahoo Widgets
I've had some problems trying to upload pictures so I can't show you exactly what they look like but click here for a link to the official site. Pretty much in summary, a widget sits on ur desktop like an icon. What is different is that each widget is active and works in a specific way i.e. one widget may tell you how full your battery life is and another widget may show you the current weather in Melbourne. What's so cool about this is that because they run in real time, you can just check out what's going on at any time without having to access a website etc. There you go, a very brief description of widgets hehe.
Other than that, I think the rest of my life will bore you (irrespective of whether what I wrote above bored you already) so I'll sign off now wishing everyone the best of luck with their results. There's only a couple of weeks left before uni begins again hehe. Take care.
