A wet, cold, looong trip home
Today was a day filled with surprises and disappointment... or so my horoscope told me... I want to set the picture for you... it was 5:30pm... I am at Melbourne Central and I had just finished up two karaagi hand rolls... I was alone and eager to get home... after validating my Met-Card, I checked the time on the screen for my next train... it read out that the next train would be at 5:40pm but it was running 5 minutes late... i hopped onto the train to find out it was stopping all stations to Dandenong... at this time, the weather outside was cold and wet... it was raining heavily... I knew the last bus from Yarraman station was at 6:25pm so I was quite confident that I could make it... the next two buses at Springvale were 6:40pm and 7:10pm... as the train performed it's ritual of stopping at every station on the way home, I kept looking at my watch hoping that I could make it onto the bus... I arrived at Springvale at 6:15pm.... I had 10 minutes to get to Yarraman to catch the bus... the train stopped a couple more times before arriving at Yarraman... I looked at my watch and I still had 2 minutes... I looked up at the bus stop across the road and to my horror, the bus just drove past... no warning and no way of making it stop in the noise that the rain was making... I was stranded at Yarraman station at 6:25pm... no more buses were going to run tonight from this station... I decided to take a train back to Springvale to catch the bus at 6:40pm... after pressing the button to announce the arrival time of the next train, I heard the system say the next train would be at 6:36pm and I had to wait for 9 minutes... that wasn't enough time for me to get back... I decided to take the last option of taking the train to Dandenong to see if the buses were running there... so I hopped on a train and found out that all services had finished there for the night as well... my night was already so messed up not to mention the rain and the freezing cold... I eventually took a train from Dandenong to Springvale and arrived at Springvale at 6:55pm allowing me to wait 15 minutes for the last bus of the night at Springvale to arrive... I was cold but I knew I could finally go home...
Have you ever had those moments when you've taken a risk and it hasn't payed off?... I kept thinking that if I had just gotten off at Springvale in the first place, I would have been able to get home 30 mins earlier than I did... my luck had run out for the night... I'm just glad to be home...
